Robert M. Jordan was a collector of antique firearms for over 40 years. He started when He was 16 year old. In his book, Colts Pocket 49, Mr. Jordan covers why the pocket í49 was such a hot seller for Colt. It was cheap, light, offered in four different barrel lengths and was produced with and without rammers. It could be ordered with special sights, special grips, special finish, and engraving. The buyer could have it inscribed for himself, or inscribed as a presentation piece for some deserving person, it was great for home protection etc. The Colt Pocket pistol era, (from 1848 to 1873), was unsurpassed in its need for cheap, efficient, multi shot firearms. First and foremost was the need for weapons during the Civil War from 1861 to 1865. The author promises the reader precise and accurate information on the evolution of Coltís pocket 49ís, The beautiful color photos were all carefully selected to exhibit features that he hopes will be useful and of interest to the reader. He has attempted to make this book as complete as possible while covering the evolution of the Pocket Models, cases, accoutrements, holsters, engraving, Colt errors, fakes and more.
